How to Delete iPhone Contacts, SMS, Photos, Apps on iPhone Permanently

If I'm in my camera roll and I hit "Edit", a delete button pops up, but when I'm in my "Photo Library" there is no delete button. I need to delete these photos because they're taking up too much space. How do I delete photos from my "Photo Library" on an iPhone 5? I want to selling my old iPhone 5 and buy a new Samsung Galaxy S5.

Deleting photos from Photo Library is different from deleting photos from iPhone Camera Roll. Photos saved in your iPhone Photo Library are synced from your computer other than taken with your iPhone Camera. When you open Photos app on iPhone, tap to open the Photo Library album, then open a photo from there, you will find there is no trash can, button or any delete icon. Instead of removing these photos from the Photos app on iPhone, you need to delete the photos from your computer by iTunes sync.

Delete iPhone Messages: tap Settings > General > Usage, you can see that messages have eaten your iPhone storage. Don't worry! Click Delete SMS or Delete Message attachments in the left navigation bar to release space.

Delete iPhone Photos: whether your iPhone Camera Roll is bulged with photos, or duplicate photo albums exist on your iPhone, multiple solutions are introduced in the corresponding part to tell you how to do it easily.

Delete music and videos on iPhone: you might delete songs and videos to free up spaces. However, it happens all the time that deleted songs and videos reappear on iPhone again and again. To solve the problem, you're very likely to apply the way mentioned in this article.

Delete iPhone Apps: either for deleting apps on iPhone, or removing app data while keeping app, you can find the best and simplest ways in this article.
Delete iPhone System Options: passcode, restrictions, VPN, mail, calendar, bookmark, etc. make it rather easy for us to keep our privacy or surf the Internet. However, sometimes we might need to change it a little bit. In this case, you must know how to change the corresponding settings.

Tips: The simple "Delete" is not enough, and "Erase All Content and Settings" doesn't really delete data, because some iPhone data recovery can get them back. However,to delete all iPhone data permanently, even professional iPhone data recovery can not get them back, you must to use a third-part iOS Data Eraser program.

Securely Erasing an iPhone Data Before Selling it

Q: How can I erase data from an old iPhone before selling it, I was concerned when you mentioned that the erasing process “should only take a few seconds.” Does this actually securely erase my data? It seems too quick, and I thought that a secure erase required the iPhone to write over every bit of the memory—in fact I thought Apple changed this years ago in response to somebody discovering that they could get information even off a “wiped” iPhone. I know when I used a tool to “securely wipe” my computer hard drive before I sold it, it took a lot longer than “a few seconds” to do so. I’m very concerned about the confidentiality of my data—is there another method I should be using to wipe my iPhone before I sell it?- Lula

So you want to sell your iPhone. But what if you are selling it to someone you dont know - for example, on Ebay? Do you really want them to be able to recover your personal data that was stored on your iPhone? Things like phone numbers, saved passwords, and favorite websites? No, I didn't think so. Simply use this guide to make sure that even the best hacker wont be able to touch your private files!

A: As we all know, the simple "Delete" is not enough, and "Erase All Content and Settings" doesn't really delete data, because some iPhone data recovery can get them back.
The Erase All Content and Settings option built into the iPhone is definitely a secure erase method, so there’s nothing you need to worry about.

You are correct that the original iPhone did not securely erase user data at all, prompting Apple to change this behaviour in iOS 2.0 to actually do a bit-by-bit wipe of the flash memory—a process that took anywhere from 1-3 hours, depending on the capacity of your device.

To permanently erase iPhone data before selling it,you need to use a third-part iPhone Data Eraser tool. Today, I recommend everyone a useful Data Eraser software, which is a trustworthy and useful software, which designed to delete iPhone data thoroughly, and the deleted data cannot be recovered any more. Due to this extraordinary feature, it become more and more popular among the iPhone users. The most laudable feature is that those data cannot be retrieved again once they are wiped by iPhone Data Eraser, even with any data recovery tool.

However, with the iPhone 3GS and iOS 3.0, Apple introduced hardware-level encryption expressly for the purpose of facilitating a fast, secure wipe process. This was likely inspired by the advent of the “Remote Wipe” feature introduced with Find My iPhone at the same time; it only made sense that if you lost your device, you wanted to be able to ensure that it was securely wiped quickly to prevent the process from being interrupted once it began.

Step 1. Run the program and connect iPhone to the computer
Step 2. Choose "Erase All Data on Device"

3 different modes to erase data safely from your iDevice
Low (1 pass): erases your iDevice quickly
Medium (2 passes): no one knows the data on your device is erased
High (3 passes): meets the DOD 5220 - 22 M standard
This option is by far the most secure data destruction option. It writes over the data 3 times by using the DOD 5220 - 22 M standard. Even a government’s facility with the state-of-art data recovery technology won’t be able to retrieve data afterwards. This mode takes longer but is the safest.

Step 3. Start to erase all data on your iPhone

Erase iPhone Data Permanently
Note: There are three level to delete data that you can choose. You can choose one level depend on your needs. After a little while, the progress of deleting will be displayed to indicate the progress of the deletion. When it is finishes, the files on your iPhone are permanently deleted, so you can use your iPhone as a new one and don't need to worry about your information being leaked.

The standard hardware encryption doesn’t specifically protect your data during normal use, since it uses a generated device-specific encryption key rather than anything tied to your device passcode (see iOS Encryption and Data Protection). However, since everything stored in your device’s flash memory is encrypted with this key, all that the Erase All Content and Settings option needs to do is securely wipe the encryption key—a process which takes mere seconds—and everything else in your device’s memory is left as an unintelligible glob of encrypted data, even to somebody who decides to take the memory chips out of the device and forensically examine them.

This hardware encryption has been included in every iOS device released since 2009; even with the latest version of iOS, however, pre-2009 devices such as the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and first- and second-generation iPod touch still use the old, slower bit-by-bit secure erase method.
